TueTuesdayNovNovember6th2007 coffee anyone?

Well gang how about a night out on Thursday night (the 8th) at the Java Lounge in Williamsburg? We obviously wont be playing any run around games, but there might be others we could play. We would still have our Bible study time so bring your Bibles and your green books.

What I need to know from you is if you plan to be there or not. We would meet there directly and NOT at church.

We wont do this every week, we will just try it this once and see how it works out. Let me know what you think.

TueTuesdayOctOctober30th2007 new look
Hey all,

Just a couple of things:

1) The 2:42 website has a new look! Check it out at www.cefcw.org/242

2) The blog is back too! You can check that out at www.cefcw.org/blog242

3) See you at the park in Williamsburg for Halloween from 3-7 pm.
We've got invitations for 2:42 ready to hand out to the "big kids" as well.

That's it. Hopefully see you on Wednesday and then again on Thursday night!

WedWednesdayOctOctober17th2007 busy, busy, busy...
Dear 242ers (is that really a word?),

Is it almost Thursday already? I don't know about you but Thursday night will come as a nice break from a busy week. Try to get homework done ahead of time so you can come and enjoy.

Don't forget to look at Lesson 5 for this week. The passage is Ephesians 3:1-13. I hope you guys are enjoying this study. I know it sometimes seems like busy work but trust me, its worth it. If you remember when we started meeting again this fall I mentioned that our goal this year is to "go deep." I want to help you guys "go deeper" in every area of your faith, and that includes reading God's Word.

Well, hope the week hasn't been to bad. Stay out of the rain. We'll see you tomorrow night.

- P.E.

p.s. - finish this sentence: "Last year at this time I would never have thought God would..."
WedWednesdayOctOctober10th2007 how r things?
I hope everyone is doing well this week. Sorry this message is a day late; things have been busy on my end. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night and I hope you all are too.

We've been seriously lacking in the snack department lately. Any volunteers to bring something for us to munch on. Hey, I've gotta depend on you guys for the food, it's enough for me to worry about the pop and the games. So anyway if someone wants to bring something that's cool.

Has anyone even thought about the green book since 9 pm last Thursday night? If not here's a reminder: We are on Lesson 4 (pp. 37-43). We will be looking at Ephesians 2:11-22. In case you haven't read the passage yet here's your chance (if you have, good for you, read it again, it won't hurt):

"Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)-- remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit."

Good job! I knew you could do it. We will see you all tomorrow night.

Later,
- P.E.

p.s. - did anyone try and spend their Dietrich Dollars?
TueTuesdayOctOctober2nd2007 This week's stuff and other things
First of all I need your suggestions for something to promote 2:42 at our Halloween outreach. We may get some students to come by our table so we thought we would invite them to the group. It would be nice if a few of you could be there to help promote our youth group. Who knows, maybe a spoons game might break out.

We are meeting this Thursday, October 4th. Get all your school stuff done so you can come and just have fun. We will be doing the Bible study, but that can be fun too. I hope you didn't forget about Lesson 3 (pp. 31-36). Bear minimum read Ephesians 2:1-10. Try to at least look through the questions too; write something down if you feel like it.

Also, bring you suggestions for Sunday morning worship. We may be talking a bit more about music and worship and stuff like that. Bring a guitar too if you want; we could "jam".

I hope the week hasn't been to rough on you (it's only Tuesday, how bad can it be?)

Here are some thoughts for the week:

Would you rather...

...have terrible acne or be bald?
...sneeze for an hour or hiccup for an hour?
...embarrass yourself or have your parents embarrass you?

So...how has the week gone so far? Keeping busy with things? I know I have been. Now that you've been in school for a good month or so you're probably ready for a break. The bad news is that Christmas break is still three months away (sorry).

Hopefully you haven't been so busy that you've neglected your little green books. Don't think of it as homework, of course you wont want to do it. See it as time spent with God. You need that every day, even if it is only for 5 minutes a day, your spiritual life will suffer if you don't make God a priority.

We will have some fun on Thursday night as usual; I'm sure you will be ready for a stress breaker. I bring the pop, you guys bring the snacks (Megan, I'm looking in your direction and I'm thinking baked goods).

Email me some of your favorite games of the past, maybe I will pick one (NO SARDINES and NO SCAVENGER HUNTS!)

See you on Thursday PM,

- P.E.

p.s. spearmint or fruit?
TueTuesdaySepSeptember18th2007 Uh...what?
Just a quick reminder that we are meeting this Thursday the 20th for 2:42. We will have a scavenger hunt and the first item on the list is to bring someone who has never been to 2:42 (worth 500 points!)

Also, don't forget we will be doing the Bible study on Thursday night. Now is a good time to find that little green book if you haven't looked at it for a few weeks. Read the introduction (pp. 13-16) and then do Lesson 1 (pp. 17-22). I know you can do it!

That's all from me. See you on Thursday night.

- P.E.
TueTuesdaySepSeptember11th2007 Here we go again...
See, I promised I would send an email. I hope things are going well at school this week. Is it cold out now when band practice starts? What about football?

Don't forget we are not meeting this week for 2:42 (I know, bummer) but we will be on again for September 20th. In the meantime I hope you've not forgotten about that neon green little book. Remember our Bible study? If you haven't looked at it yet, read the introduction (pp. 13-16) and then do Lesson 1 (pp. 17-22). Don't get overwhelmed, just take it in little bits.

If any of you are planning to come this Thursday for the pot luck and church meeting would you be willing to help serve in the nursery for a little bit? We would really appreciate it.

Most important of all, WHERE IS THE GOLDEN SPOON??? Does anyone else miss it? Hmmm...

We also need a snack volunteer for the 20th. I handle the Dew and Pepsi if someone else brings goodies (no pickle wraps! ewww)

Later,
- P.E.
ThuThursdayJunJune14th2007 Summer Break
Just a note so that we are all on the same page. 2:42 will not be meeting again until later this summer. With everyone working, on vacation, and going to camp we just aren't going to be able to get together regularly. We will meet again once in July and once again in August before we go back to our regular schedule in September. We will announce the dates sometime later.

I hope everyone's summer has started off well. Have fun.

WedWednesdayJunJune6th2007 photo shoot
Hey Gang,

Are you all rested up from last weekend? I hope so. Just in case you aren't we will take it easy on Thursday.

We will work on putting together a slideshow of our photos from Chicago to show at church. So bring your pictures from the trip. Put them on a CD or bring your camera or your chip. I can put them on my computer. We can also scan real photos too.

Good luck to those of you who started a job this week (and to you who are continuing with a job this summer). We will talk about what our summer schedule for 2:42 will be. We wont meet every week; maybe once a month until school starts again.

See you tomorrow night (unless you are at work...or baseball).

TueTuesdayMayMay29th2007 Chicago Trip
Here is a list minute list of things to bring and things to know for our trip this weekend:

We are now taking two mini vans so there is plenty of space for everyone; no one will need to be strapped to the luggage rack on top.

Don't forget to bring at least $25 for activities plus any extra you think you will need for dinner Thursday night, breakfast and/or lunch on Friday, and breakfast on Saturday morning. Dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday is covered (plus a few other items here and there). In an emergency we will cover you if you need it, but we won't be your ATM.

What to be sure to bring:
- Sleeping bag/pillow
- Bath stuff if you want to shower (towel, soap, etc.)
- Walking shoes (your feet will be dead in flip flops or sandals)
- a light jacket or hoodie (it can get cool by the lake depending on the weather)
- Your Bible, a pen, and a notebook

You may also want to bring a camera and a backpack to haul your gear and souvenirs in while we are in the city. A small umbrella might not be a bad idea either, one that you can throw in a backpack.

We want to leave from the church as close to 4:00 pm as possible. We won't leave without you but try to get there as quick as you can.

It is going to be a great weekend. I can hardly wait! See you Thursday!

TueTuesdayMayMay15th2007 thumbs up or down
Just a quick note to find out who is coming on Thursday. We may try to do something special for the graduates if they can all be there. If not we will do it another time after the Chicago trip. Just reply with a thumbs up or thumbs down if you are coming Thursday or not.

Speaking of Chicago...those who haven't turned their permission slips in need to get them back as soon as possible.

Later,

- P.E.
ThuThursdayMayMay10th2007 Better Late Than Never
I'm sorry you haven't received this until now; it's been a busy week. Hope your week has been a good one as some of you prepare for graduation and others for the last day of school in a couple weeks.

We are meeting tonight (Thursday the 10th) as usual. Come ready to have fun and to burn off some end of the school year energy.

See you there,

- P.E.
WedWednesdayMayMay2nd2007 Heart Contents
Heart Contents

What does your heart say about you? I'm sure no one has ever asked you that before. You might not even know what I'm talking about. Take a look at what Jesus said about our hearts in Matthew 15:1-20. We will look at this passage on Thursday night, until then take a look and see if you can figure out what he is saying.

Games

If the rain holds off maybe we will do a game or two outside. Either way it sounds like we are due up for another scavenger hunt.

Chicago

I will have letters/permission slips for our trip to take home on Thursday night. Be sure to take one and return it to me before we go. Space will be limited in the cars so you will be allowed to take one bag and one sleeping bag, anything else will have to go on your lap.

See you Thursday!
