This morning we are getting ourselves ready for our second day of the English camp here in Montreal. Now that we know what to expect we are even more eager to get back with the students.

The day began with students arriving and registering for camp. As they came in, one by one we brought the students through an assessment test. Although their English level varied, we who are non-French speakers were very impressed with how well these boys and girls could speak and write English.

Students can't stay in the class room all day long so we made sure to include plenty of fun games and activities for the kids. Our game team introduced the campers to 'Capture the Flag', a favorite camp game in the US. We are fortunate to have a very nice park just minutes away from the church where the camp is hosted.

Lunch was provided by our team of chefs and the students refueled for their day. We enjoyed being able to engage the students in conversation as we ate together. As some on our team have said, it is amazing to see how relationship are beginning to form right away between members of our team and the campers.

We wouldn't say that the camp was easy, but everyone seemed to agree that actually putting our plans into practice melted away the stress very quickly. Sure we anticipate challenges, but we also anticipate great things as we go and serve these children today at the camp.

Keep an eye on yesterday's post as pictures from the week will continue to be updated. You can also get to the photo album by visiting http://picasaweb.google.com/mrohiowa75/Montreal?feat=directlink

Just a quick note to say that all of us arrived safely in Montreal. Our ground team made it with only a couple minor hiccups and the rest of us made it without trouble via the air. We were met at the airport and made our way to the Pinney's home, our home away from home for the week.

The day starts early tomorrow. We will miss everyone back at Cornerstone tomorrow morning but are excited to join our friends here for worship. We are expecting a full day ahead of us.

It's late here so we will share more tomorrow. Know that we made it safe and are ready to get to work.

Phase one of our travels to Montreal have begun. Four from our team along with almost all of our gear have been stuffed into a 15 passenger van and are on the road even now. They will arrive in Montreal before the ten of us fly out and arrive tomorrow evening.

All of us have a good mixture of excitement and nervousness in our stomachs. We have a number of challenges ahead of us, not the least of which being that none of us can speak a word of French. Yet we are ready to go and we are trusting in God's good plan every step of the way.

So pray for our team and watch this space as we post our stories about our missions adventure to Montreal.
FriFridayJulJuly2nd2010 Five Weeks

Five weeks from tomorrow our team of 14 from Williamsburg, IA and DeKalb, IL will be on our way to Montreal. We met as a team last night to see where we are in our preparation. Things are looking good but there is still much to do. There are English lessons to finalize, activities to be planned, menus to be prepared and soon enough luggage to be packed. Please pray for us as these details will be coming together over the next number of weeks.

We are so thankful to God for the supporters who have joined us with both financial and prayer support. It seems that just about every other day there is another check in the mailbox bringing us closer and closer to our financial goal. We've raised enough to cover our travel costs; now we are trusting the Lord that we will raise the remainder of the funds needed for the week.

God is good and we look forward to seeing His plan unfold for us as we near our week in Montreal. We look forward to the stories we will be able to tell about how God used our team and what He will teach us during this experience.

Stay tuned!
